Diwali Celebration at Blacktown
Over in Blacktown our residents celebrated the Hindu festival, Diwali – commonly known as “The Festival of Lights”. Residents decorated the activity room and heard the history of Diwali. Staff wore traditional dress and danced with residents to vibrant music in celebration.
Armchair Travel to Mexico at Manly Vale
Cultural days at Manly Vale are a long-standing tradition where staff and residents celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity.
On Wednesday 16 September we celebrated Mexican Independence Day. Residents enjoyed hearing the history of Mexican independence followed by trivia and a music session where residents listened to the Mariachi, a well known traditional style of music from Western Mexico.
Residents relished in our “armchair travel” to Mexico. Passports in hands, they boarded an imaginary flight to Mexico where they watched stunning videos that captured the language, culture, traditions and local landscape beautifully.
Our talented in-house chef has always done the best with serving traditional food and residents were served corn chips, guacamole and other local cuisines during afternoon tea.
