Christmas Time At Hardi Aged Care

They say Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and that was defiantly the feeling across all 6 Hardi Aged Care homes. From early December each Hardi Aged Care home is decorated in a sprinkling of tinsel, baubles, and lights. Residents took part in Christmas themed arts and crafts, while the sounds of carols could be heard through the rooms and hallways of the homes.
The last weeks of the year flew by and before we knew it, it was time for Christmas parties for residents, volunteers and staff alike, and for the much-anticipated bus trips to look at the Christmas lights around Sydney. This year residents visited lights around Mt Annan, Ryde, and the Northern Beaches, stopping in at various local clubs along the way for dinner and drinks with staff and the bus driver Colin. Each Hardi Aged Care home celebrated Christmas in their own special way from traditional lunches, BBQs and dinners so residents and families could celebrate this special time together. The lifestyle team at each Hardi Aged Care home, meticulously organised the Christmas parties along with the FMT and catering team to make sure it was a magical day for everyone taking part. Staff ensured that residents were in the spirit by dressing up in Christmas colours and themed t-shirts, to going all out in fancy dress in elf costumes and even a Santa suite! It was a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. For all of their hard work through the year, staff also celebrated Christmas amongst themselves in a variety of ways including going to the local clubs
and having a special lunch at the facilities so that all staff members could take some time out from their working day and relax with colleagues. As the New Year gets underway, the staff across each Hardi Aged Care Home are continuing their resolve to make Hardi Aged Care the best it can be and will be focusing this year on enhancing our facilities and lifestyle programs across the group to give our residents the best care possible. Thank you to everyone who made 2019 such a wonderful year, we look forward to an even better and bigger year ahead.

It’s hard to find the words that would even begin to thank you enough for how the staff cared for my Aunt whilst in your care. I will be forever grateful. A home should never be judged on whether it is shiny and new, but by the people within it. Your home is warm and loving and I could not have asked for anything more, thank you.

Eliza, Katiya, and Rick – Mountainview
A huge thank you to all the beautiful staff at Hardi Penrith who made our Mother Catherines last 8 ½ years so full and meaningful. She arrived very frail at the age of 92 and blossomed in the following 8 ½ years to enjoy such a wonderful life you all provided her and to reach 100 years of age!

She made many wonderful friends, went on bus trips, went to clubs for lunch, and saw the Xmas lights. Anyone who thinks a nursing home is an end, should look at our Mum Catherine and see that it is just the beginning due to the care she received. Hardi Aged Care handled the recent COVID-19 crisis in the most professional way, not banning family but encouraging safe visiting, we are so very grateful mum could enjoy cuddles, laughs, and visits up until the very end of her life. In her final days she was attended to with dignity and kindness by every single member of staff. Thank you so very much for everything you did. We are forever grateful.

All Hardi Aged Care homes take part in a Music and Memory program. Music therapy has been increasingly used in dementia-specific care to help residents recall memories and emotions from their past, with notable benefits including improved
mood, less anxiety, reduction in pain, decreased dependence on medications and stimulating positive interactions.

Through surveys, research, and a steady stream of amazing stories, the music and memory program has documented many benefits of the personalised music program.

Music and Memory
It has been 5 months since our father James passed away but we wanted to again acknowledge Hardi Aged Care staff for the time, commitment, care and compassion that you showed to James during his illness and to all members of our family. Upon reflection, I think it is important to say that even though Hardi Aged Care Guildford isn’t part of our daily lives, we still hold the nursing home in high standards.

The staff are still in our hearts and were an important part of our journey with Dad. A journey that was extremely challenging, but we have peace in our hearts knowing that dad was with you at the end. We came to know some of the residents well and still think of them.

My mother passed away after nearly nine years at Mountainview as a high care resident. I wanted to say that the staff were wonderful and treated her with respect and dignity.

Over the years, as to be expected, we occasionally had issues that needed sorting and they would get straight onto it. I cannot recommend Mountainview highly enough. My mum had no choice but to go into high care following a stroke so initially was distressed at being there, but the love, friendship and laughter provided on a daily basis by staff, residents and relatives meant that she was happy in the last few years of her life. Thank you, Mountainview.

I moved my parents from another facility to Hardi Aged Care Seven Hills one year ago. It is the best thing that I have done for my parents. In my opinion, I say that they moved from a backyard soccer coach to the institute of sport! They want for nothing. They are both in the extra services unit. They each have their own spacious rooms with bathrooms attached. There is a lovely dining hall on the same level, below is another dining hall/lounge room and outside is a lovely garden. Mum and Dad want for nothing.

The staff at Hardi are all nice and treat my parents with the respect and love they deserve. All the staff from cleaning, kitchen, maintenance, reception, nursing, laundry, lifestyle staff and management all treat each resident with the same level of love and respect and I believe this is what sets this nursing home apart from all the rest. I am really thankful that Hardi was recommended to me as I do believe that if I had not moved both my parents they would not be here today.

I would like to thank all of the staff for looking after my mother Carol. Your team in this area go to the next level in caring and I would recommend this nursing home to anyone who asked me. I would like to say a big thank you for all of the help and kind nature all your team has given my mother.

My dear friends, what can I say but thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Everybody at your lovely aged care home has been playing well above their weight when it comes to the care that Peter was provided with, I can name a few individuals such as John, Amy, and Greer but everybody knows the list is much larger than that, especially me!

Not much else to say except for a very very big heartfelt thank you to all your staff at Mountainview. The best aged care facility in the world.
